Lower limit of transferrin test is 190µg/dL (or 25μmol/L).

Transferrin is the main protein in the blood which binds to iron and transports it throughout the body. Transferrin levels is lower than normal in cases of iron overload.

Lower than normal test results my indicate on malnutrition, pernicious anemia, sickle cell anemia, cirrhosis, hemolytic anemia, hypoproteinemia, inflammation or liver disease.
