Partial pressure of carbon dioxide is the measurement of amount of carbon dioxide in arterial blood. State of reduced carbon dioxide in the blood is called hypocapnea (or hypocarbia, hypocapnia).

Hypocapnia is normally well tolerated, but it causes cerebral vasoconstriction, leading to cerebral hypoxia, which can cause transient dizziness, visual disturbances, and anxiety.
