LOW AMMONIA BLOOD TEST LEVEL. What does lower than normal ammonia test level mean?

Lower limit of ammonia test is 10 μmol/L (or 17 μg/dL).

An ammonia test measures the amount of ammonia in the blood. The ammonia is normally converted into urea by the liver. Urea is then eliminated in urine.

Low ammonia levels in the blood are likely to become extremelly higher than normal, because they also indicate that there are some problems with the liver. This may be a sign of cirrhosis or severe hepatitis.
