HIGH INORGANIC PHOSPHORUS (SERUM) BLOOD TEST LEVEL. What does higher than normal serum inorganic phosphorus test level mean?

Upper limit of inorganic phosphorus (serum) test is 1.5 mmol/L (or 4.5 mg/dL).

Serum inorganic phosphate is only a very minor percentage of total body phosphorus. High level of inorganic phosphorus in blood states a presence of Hyperphosphatemia.

Causes of Hyperphosphatemia are increased phosphate load (oral load), decreased renal excretion or cellular shifts (such as lymphomas, leukemias).
