LOW AMOUNT OF IRON IN CHILDRENS BLOOD TEST. What does low iron level in childs blood indicate?

Lower limit of total serum iron test (TSI) for children is 50µg/dL (or 9μmol/L).

This results my indicate an Iron-deficiency anemia. IDA is often caused by insufficient iron intake and it is the major cause of anemia in childhood.

Treatment involves iron supplements. The iron is best absorbed on an empty stomach. Another way to increase iron absorption is to take it together with vitamin C.
